HDFS File Writer and File System Adapter Sample

About This Sample

This sample illustrates the use of the TIBCO StreamBase® File System Adapter for Apache HDFS. The information provided in this guide walks you through the sample setup to run against your HDFS installation.

Initial Setup

To access the required files, you must open the Sample.sbapp file, which is located under sample_adapter_embedded_hdfssrc/main/eventflowcom.sample.adapter.hdfs. Select the Parameters tab and edit the HDFS_FILE_PATH and HDFS_USER values to represent your HDFS setup.

Running Sample.sbapp in StreamBase Studio

  1. In the Project Explorer, open the sample you just loaded.

  2. Open the src/main/eventflow folder.

  3. Open the package folder (most samples contain a single package folder. Open the top-level package folder if your sample contains more than one folder).

  4. Open the named application file and click the Run button. This opens the SB Test/Debug perspective and starts the application.

If you see red marks, wait a moment for the project in Studio to load its features.

If red marks do not resolve themselves in a moment, select the project and right-click MavenUpdate Project from the context menu.

  5. In the Manual Input view, select OpenFile, and click Send Data to send the default tuple.

  6. In the Application Output view, observe tuples emitted on the WriteStatus output stream with information about the file open action.

  7. In the Manual Input view, select CloseFile, click Send Data to send the default tuple.

  8. In the Application Output view, observe tuples emitted on the WriteStatus output stream with information about the file close action.

  9. In the Manual Input view, select DeleteControl, click Send Data to send the default tuple.

  10. In the Application Output view, observe tuples emitted on the DeleteStatus output stream with information about the file delete action.

  11. Press F9 or click the Stop Running Application button.
