Task Scheduler Adapter Samples

About the Sample

These samples show how to use the Task Scheduler adapter to create events at specific intervals. The events created can be used to start or control EventFlow applications that are required to do specific tasks at specific times or intervals.

Importing This Sample into StreamBase Studio

In StreamBase Studio, import this sample with the following steps:

  • From the top-level menu, select File>Load StreamBase Sample.

  • Enter task to narrow the list of options.

  • Select Task Scheduler from the Standard StreamBase Adapters category.

  • Click OK.

StreamBase Studio creates a single project containing the sample files.

Running the Task Scheduler Sample

This sample shows various scheduled items by default. The adapter in this sample uses the Startup Cron settings to set up multiple triggers which fire and output event tuples at various times.

  1. In the Project Explorer view, open the sample you just loaded.

If you see red marks on a project folder, wait a moment for the project to load its features.

If the red marks do not resolve themselves after a minute, select the project, right-click, and select Maven>Update Project from the context menu.

  2. Open the src/main/eventflow/packageName folder.

  3. Open the TaskScheduler.sbapp file and click the Run button. This opens the SB Test/Debug perspective and starts the module, which is self-running.

  4. In the Application Output view, look for the status and data tuples for the selected operation.

  5. When done, press F9 or click the Terminate EventFlow Fragment button.

Running the Task Scheduler Fire Times Sample

This sample shows how to set up a schedule that fires a specific number of times and then stops. Running this sample creates a schedule that fires every two seconds and stops after three occurrences.

  1. Continuing in this sample project, open the TaskSchedulerFireTimes.sbapp file.

  2. Click the Run button. This opens the SB Test/Debug perspective and starts the module, which is self-running.

  3. In the Application Output view, look for the status and data tuples for the selected operation.

  4. When done, press F9 or click the Terminate EventFlow Fragment button.
