Online Component Resources

Introduction

In addition to the samples included in Spotfire Streaming, you can install and run components from the StreamBase Component Exchange and TIBCO Community Exchange. The Component Exchange is an online repository of Streaming applications, libraries, and utilities, created by the users and members of the Spotfire Streaming team, made freely available to all its users.

Disclaimer

Unlike the samples included in Spotfire Streaming, components in the StreamBase Component Exchange are not supported, verified, or endorsed by Cloud Software Group, Inc., even when authored by a Cloud Software Group employee, partner, or affiliate.

You can download components from the Exchange in three ways:

StreamBase Component Exchange

You can download components from the StreamBase Component Exchange directly into StreamBase Studio.

To download components from Studio, invoke File>StreamBase Component Exchange from Studio's top-level menu. After an initial license page, a dialog like the following appears.

Open the Description section to read a summary of the components of interest. Use the Find in Title field to narrow the list of components to those whose titles match a search string:

Select the checkboxes next to one or more components of interest, then click Finish. This downloads the components into Studio and creates a Studio project in the current workspace for each component.

Select the Download components in the background check box if you are downloading several components over a slow network connection.

Follow the instructions in the README.txt file in the component's project folder.

Site-Specific Component Exchange

Studio Preferences in Window>Preferences>StreamBase Studio have the setting Use custom Component Exchange URL. Use this field to specify an alternate URL that contains an in-house or company-specific location for downloading StreamBase components. Contact Spotfire Streaming Technical Support for guidance in setting up an in-house component exchange site.

Site-specific Component Exchange URLs can use the HTTPS protocol, in which case Studio prompts you for access credentials on the specified server.

TIBCO Community Exchange

You can download Community Exchange projects from the TIBCO Community website. The project has a Login to Download Files button that lets you download the zip file that contains the complete project. Import these downloaded zip files into StreamBase Studio.

To locate community exchange items follow the steps:

  • Go to the TIBCO Community website.

  • Select Exchange from the menu across the top.

  • Do not select any filter checkboxes.

  • Use one of the following search strings. Do not search multiple strings at once as the results will not show everything.

    1. StreamBase

    2. Streaming

    3. LiveView

    4. Live Datamart

You can import the project files into StreamBase Studio as described on Importing to Studio

Note

StreamBase Component Exchange no longer accepts submission of components. Instead, you can submit components to the Spotfire Streaming Community GitHub repository
